Welcome back!

Since Koby broke his leg, my whole world/organization has been off. As some of you reminded me, it has been forever since I posted on this blog. So.......WELCOME BACK!!!

I wanted to let Period 2 and 3 know that we cannot take our test on Friday. We have too many disruptions on Thursday-APES field trip and earthquake drill. I need one more full class period to teach the new graphs. So I need Friday to present new material. We will take the test on Monday and have a review session on Sunday at 4pm in my class.

Thanks for your patience, understanding, and good behavior the last 7 weeks. I think it is now safe to resume a sense of normalcy! :-)

Good work over the weekend periods 2 and 3 on those Standard of Living Comparison Charts. I am looking forward to hearing your conclusions.

All classes...do not forget that we will be visiting your counselors tomorrow for senior credit checks. Please bring any college questions as well.

Week of August 23-26, 2010

Sorry! This was an extremely busy week.

Periods 1,5,6 turned in Chapter 1 Cornell Notes and took our first quiz.

Periods 2 and 3 turned in notes on ceteris parabus and micro vs macro, graphing appendix, and vocabulary cards. We also took our first quiz. Good job to Mayra and Jenny for earning the highest scores! :-)

We also had Back-to-School Night and I was able to meet a lot of wonderful parents. You should thank them for coming out and showing concern for your education.

There was no school on Friday, August 27, so I hope you were able to recall the three basic economic questions and how they are answered in market, traditional, and command economies.

More economics next week.....Yay! Can't wait!

Factors of Production

Would you like to be a successful entrepreneur? Keep the factors of production and their rewards of ownership in mind. Profits only occur after those factor payments have been made.

FYI-We will be going to see your counselors on August 31, 2010 for Senior Credit Checks. Bring your college application and letter of recommendation questions that day as well.

Keep thinking about those opportunity costs.........and while you are at it, remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch!

Monday, August 16, 2010

Silly me! Talk about opportunity costs. I spent too much time on facebook and my opportunity cost was that I did not blog for the day. Hmmmm......wise decision??? I guess I need to do a cost/benefit analysis. In any event, I asked you to pay attention to your decision-making, recognize your opportunitiy costs, and consider whether you were making wise decisions. (Remember:today's do now was to list 5 opportunity costs you incurred in the last 24 hours.)

Thank you to all my seniors for making this first week a smooth transition back into school. Everyone has books, notebooks and Cornell notes are set up, and class changes should be done. Day 3....is it Friday yet?

Well...almost Friday. Great video bulletin today. Nice way to start the new school year.

AP-Periods 2 and 3.....Pretest. Hmmmm.....the high score was a 22 out of 60. I think that is wonderful. It gives us an accurate measure of where we are and a gauge to where we should be at the end of the semester. If you thought that test was hard, the scary thing is realizing that you will know all of that information in less than 85 days. We are going to be brill ant! :-) We need your notebook for class tomorrow and the highlighters.

CP-Periods 1,5, and 6...nice job on the shields today. It was rewarding to see the effort that some of you put into them in a short amount of time. I also liked that you were willing to share them with your classmates and talk to students you might not have known before today. I think our classroom community is shaping wonderfully. Don't forget your id to check out your textbooks tomorrow and have your parents sign the syllabus.
